One day after the Kleeb campaign released to the press internal polling data indicating he was ahead of Adrian Smith among likely voters, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee decided to make a sizable media buy.

Outside observers should always be suspicious of internal polls, but there are a few reasons to be optimistic that this race is a dead heat.
1) The DCCC is spending $100,000 to buy TV ads in the 3rd District. You don’t usually see them come in unless they think there is a shot of winning.
2) Club for Growth is dumping another $80,000 into the race for Adrian Smith. Club for Growth wouldn’t be spending more money if they thought the race was over.
It looks like this race could go down to the wire.

Sensing that Democrat Scott Kleeb has a legitimate chance to win Nebraska’s 3rd District congressional seat, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has bought $100,000 worth of TV ads to help him beat Republican state Sen. Adrian Smith.
The move comes as Republicans are scaling back television advertising in three highly contested races in Pennsylvania, Colorado and Ohio.
In contrast, Democrats are expanding the number of districts where they are advertising - including Nebraska’s 3rd.
